MY FAVORITE THINGS

Hi lovelies!

Since we’re still getting to know each other, I thought I’d do a post on some of my holy grail, all time favorite things.  I think rather than one big list, I’ll do it by categories so we cover a few different things!

1. Favorite Purse

Guys, am I the only one who wanted to cry when they discontinued the Marc by Marc Jacobs line?  I have three different bags from this collection and the New Q Hillier Hobo is my favorite by far!  This bag is amazing.  I’ve had it for two years and use it all the time and it still shows zero signs of wear!  It has so much space and never feels too heavy for me, even when I fill it with all the things I need- plus all the things that I don’t but pack anyways just because there is so much space!  The one good thing about it being discontinued is that most of the line can now be found at a discounted price at Nordstrom Rack!

2. Favorite Shoes

You’ve already seen my Keds white sneakers in my first post- but you’ll see these a ton on my page because they really are my go-to favorites for shoes with just about any look.  They’re simple and comfortable and they have the potential to dress down any look.  A lot of my pieces are on the dressy side so when I’m going for casual, these shoes are an easy way to get there.

3. Favorite Food

If I could only eat one food for the rest of my life it would be popcorn.  I like sweets just as much as the next girl, but salt has always been my drug of choice.  I make it at home on the stove in some coconut oil and it’s the perfect snack for any time!

4. Favorite Lip Color

I am obsessed with the Sweet Peach collection by Too Faced and the lip oils are no exception.  Papa Don’t Peach is my favorite shade of the line- it’s one of those ‘your lips but better’ colors and it is super wearable, plus it tastes like peaches.  Total win-win if you ask me.  I literally never leave home without it tucked in my bag.

FUN FACT: Setting up a flat lay at 11pm is not easy.  Will definitely be shooting with natural light for the next one!

CHEERS TO ANOTHER YEAR

Hi there!

I’ve been playing with the idea of starting a blog for quite a while- I read other bloggers’ tips on starting a blog, planned what my content would be geared towards, and had a few ideas for names that I loved.  The only thing I was really missing from the equation was the time to go ahead and tell myself to just sit down and start writing.  It feels like Christmas was just yesterday but somehow it’s already half way through the year, bringing with it my 26th birthday.  This is a big one.  I don’t know what it is specifically but between the last day of 25 and the first day of 26, I feel like I’ve jumped off the cliff of my childhood and landed flat in adulthood.  And with that, I decided now was as good of a time as any so here it goes: Welcome to my little corner on fashion and lifestyle, I hope you like it!

Since I was already feeling a little too grown up, I really wanted to celebrate my birthday without any responsibility  in sight.  For me, that consists of all things brunch and definitely a mimosa or two.  Brunch is one of my favorite ways to kick off the morning on my days off- not only is there amazing food, but I also love planning brunching outfits!  There is just something so fun and feminine to me about a good brunch ootd.

We decided to go to this new spot called Great Maple (it was amazing- I definitely recommend it if you ever come across one) that just opened at the local mall so we could do a little shopping afterwards if we weren’t too full to walk around, that is.  I recently picked up this lovely maxi dress and decided to layer it with a neutral cardigan just in case the fog decided to roll in- which it did, unfortunately.  Maxi dresses are a staple in my wardrobe because they can so easily be dressed up or down.  Pair them with a denim jacket for cool and comfortable or with a black blazer for instant chic.  This dress is super versatile and the material is super soft and comfortable and I love the drawstring around the midsection that allows you to really wear it how you want to.  Dresses are also my outfit of choice when going out to eat because who wants a waistline when there’s French toast involved? Not this gal.  For accessories, I went simple with a small gold bar necklace so as not to draw away from the pattern and detailing on the dress.  I chose my go-to white kicks to make sure I was comfortable walking around after brunch and because there’s just something so Sandy Olson about pairing a skirt with simple white sneakers that feels flirty and soft.
