BREEZY RED SWING DRESS

Hi lovelies!

Today I’m going to be talking about one of my recent purchases- this red dress with a beautiful swing silhouette.  I picked it up at a store that my sister absolutely adores called No Rest for Bridget.  I had never heard of it before she took me there but I found a few super cute things there, all at great prices.  The fabric is so comfortable and perfect for this humid summer weather we’ve been having!  The neckline has adjustable laces that both add fun detailing but also make the top part of the dress a little bit customizable so you can wear it how you want to.  The material does seem to be a tiny bit sheer in the sun so I threw on a pair of spanx underneath so I didn’t need to worry about anything showing through.  Other than that, I love absolutely everything about this dress!

I paired the dress with my favorite Keds kicks and I love how they dress down the look a bit so it was perfect for lunch with my family and then running a few errands afterwards!  I will definitely be returning to No Rest for Bridget soon!

CHAMBRAY A-LINE SKIRT

Hi lovelies!

Happy Monday!  Hope everyone had a fantastic weekend!  I spent yesterday with some of my favorite weekend activities- eating brunch and window shopping!  I noticed this adorable wallpaper on one of the walls near the restaurant and I could not help but stop to take a few photos even though I wasn’t actually planning on taking any blog shots sooo please excuse my lack of any accessorizing and messy hair because you know sometimes life calls for some spur of the moment photos and you just gotta roll with it, right?

So today I’m going to be talking about this super cute A-Line skirt that I picked up recently on sale from Madewell!  It’s made of a soft chambray material and has button detailing lining the entire length of both sides.  One thing that I really like about it is the midi length.  I usually favor maxi skirts but the length of this one is so much fun and perfect for summer and heading into fall.  For this look, I paired the skirt with a ribbed sweater tank, which is also on sale right now at Madewell.  I love that the slouchy silhouette of this tank brings a nice relaxed vibe to the look.  I only recently started shopping at Madewell because they opened a store in my local mall and so far I am loving everything that I have found there, especially when they have great sales going like they do now!  The online sale ends today though so definitely go check it out before its gone!

On a side note, can we talk about this purse?!  A friend saw it at the Kate Spade Outlet and knew it was so me so she sent me some photos and picked it up for me.  I’m obsessed and my inner crazy cat lady is just head over heels in love with it!

NAVY SUMMER WEDDING OUTFIT

Hi lovelies!

Hope you all had a great weekend!  Yesterday, I attended the wedding of a good friend from high school and let me tell you it was HOT out!  The couple got married in an old church in my hometown that is affectionately referred to as ‘The Glass Church’ and it is exactly what it sounds like.  It’s a very small, one room church made of all glass and that July sun shining in through made for a rather toasty- albeit beautiful- afternoon.  You’ve probably noticed by now that I can usually be counted on to chose full length dresses, however for this event since I had an idea about how warm it would be, I went with this adorable navy dress that I got from Lulu’s.  This dress is so cute and comfortable, is less than $50, and comes in a ton of different colors!  On a side note guys, if you haven’t ordered anything from this website you definitely need to check it out.  I have ordered so many of my special event dresses and even a few casual dresses from them and I am obsessed!  They have so many options for different styles and often have great items go on sale!  Shipping is always fast and easy, and though I haven’t actually had to return anything yet, the return policy seems to be pretty straightforward should you need to.

I paired this simple green and gold pendant from LOFT to add a little bit more color to the look and went with my Tory Burch sandals to make sure I would be comfortable moving around all afternoon in the heat!

CHEERS TO ANOTHER YEAR

Hi there!

I’ve been playing with the idea of starting a blog for quite a while- I read other bloggers’ tips on starting a blog, planned what my content would be geared towards, and had a few ideas for names that I loved.  The only thing I was really missing from the equation was the time to go ahead and tell myself to just sit down and start writing.  It feels like Christmas was just yesterday but somehow it’s already half way through the year, bringing with it my 26th birthday.  This is a big one.  I don’t know what it is specifically but between the last day of 25 and the first day of 26, I feel like I’ve jumped off the cliff of my childhood and landed flat in adulthood.  And with that, I decided now was as good of a time as any so here it goes: Welcome to my little corner on fashion and lifestyle, I hope you like it!

Since I was already feeling a little too grown up, I really wanted to celebrate my birthday without any responsibility  in sight.  For me, that consists of all things brunch and definitely a mimosa or two.  Brunch is one of my favorite ways to kick off the morning on my days off- not only is there amazing food, but I also love planning brunching outfits!  There is just something so fun and feminine to me about a good brunch ootd.

We decided to go to this new spot called Great Maple (it was amazing- I definitely recommend it if you ever come across one) that just opened at the local mall so we could do a little shopping afterwards if we weren’t too full to walk around, that is.  I recently picked up this lovely maxi dress and decided to layer it with a neutral cardigan just in case the fog decided to roll in- which it did, unfortunately.  Maxi dresses are a staple in my wardrobe because they can so easily be dressed up or down.  Pair them with a denim jacket for cool and comfortable or with a black blazer for instant chic.  This dress is super versatile and the material is super soft and comfortable and I love the drawstring around the midsection that allows you to really wear it how you want to.  Dresses are also my outfit of choice when going out to eat because who wants a waistline when there’s French toast involved? Not this gal.  For accessories, I went simple with a small gold bar necklace so as not to draw away from the pattern and detailing on the dress.  I chose my go-to white kicks to make sure I was comfortable walking around after brunch and because there’s just something so Sandy Olson about pairing a skirt with simple white sneakers that feels flirty and soft.
